The Origin story for Moon and Stars Therapy
Hi, I’m Brianna Baisch, a pelvic floor, maternal mental health, and pediatric Occupational Therapist and founder/CEO of Moon and Stars Therapy. Before becoming an OT, I was driven to improve women’s health services due to my own struggle with chronic pelvic pain and "painful periods" as a teenager, where I was offered only multiple birth control trials, facing numerous side effects over the years. By 22, I was ready to stop relying on birth control and focus on healing myself. At 24, after two years off birth control and being married, I sought hormone testing to prepare my body for future pregnancies and support a positive fertility journey. After being denied fertility testing due to being "young and healthy," I paid out of pocket for testing and discovered an infertility marker, later being diagnosed with Diminished Ovarian Reserve (DOR) at 25, with a low egg count similar to a 40-year-old woman and signs of perimenopause. I was given less than a 10% chance of conceiving naturally and an even lower chance with IVF using my own eggs. My fertility window was closing, and I was advised to try conceiving within 1-2 years. Devastated, with little support, I was left to navigate this diagnosis on my own, researching and trying supplements, acupuncture, moon bathing, spiritual healing and anything else I could do to improve my chances. I am extremely blessed to have conceived, carried, and brought 2 beautiful baby girls into this world despite the cards stacked against us. Despite having "healthy" pregnancies, births, and postpartums, I felt a deep lack of support as a mom dealing with pelvic pain, a difficult first birth, breastfeeding struggles, sleep issues, and mental health challenges. I turned to midwifery care and chiropractic support during my pregnancies, which helped me feel more supported, but I still felt like something was missing. I shouldn’t have had to shoulder the burden of finding all the answers and support on my own. I truly believe everything happens for a reason, and my experiences were just the beginning of many others' journeys. These challenges fueled my passion and gave me the confidence to create a practice that meets the needs of this underserved population.
During my last 2 years working as a school-based pediatric OT, I have also discovered a lack of education, support, and available services for families with children who experience developmental and/or sensory challenges. This is an area of work I have always been drawn to and a population that continues to be misunderstood, underrepresented, and under supported due to the gaps in our healthcare and societal systems. Although I may not be able to change the world, I hope to offer a safe, supported, and empowering space where women, children, and families can thrive and live to their greatest potential.
